10 year old girl: the others kids were being mean. they hit me and pushed me down the stairs.

mom: did you fight back? i didnt raise no punk.

10 year old girl: they were just so mean.

mom: you need to learn to defend yourself and fight back, because if you dont i will have to find their parents and fight them.

10 year old girl: but you are pregnant...

mom: it doesnt matter

3 things...and john mayer

1. i bought four bathing suits (3 tops and one bottom) for four dollars total at h&m the other day. its 29 degrees outside. but i am prepared for the first hint of warm weather...whenever that will be. when does winter end? ive only experienced the three days of winter a year in texas.

2. i went to the movies the other day and i could feel the subway rumbling under my feet. weird. also, it was a daytime movie and it cost $11.25. ELEVEN TWENTY FIVE.

3. i went to my most fav mexican restaraunt the other night and it was freakin crowded. the hostess offered our table a round of shots for us to leave, so that he could free up our table. of course we said yes, even though we were about to leave anyway. then on the way back to the subway i heard the rocky theme song which gave me the urge to run up some steps. this did not happen, but i did spot the car that it was blasting from. there was a guy in there, wearing a headband. i pumped my fist in the air and he looked at me and did the same. then he turned to drive, but he was at a red light. so we pumped our fists at each other again...more awkward this time. but still awesome.

now for john mayer. i heard this song in h&m the other day and then found the video on youtube. its a song from the movie, 'bucketlist'. good lyrics.

john mayer, 'say'

you better know that in the end
its better to say too much
than never to say what you need to say again.

even if your hands are shaking
and your faith is broken
even as the eyes are closin
do it with a heart wide open

good song.

i need to go take off my face mask now.

kaaaaaaay

ive decided that i really need to invest in some slip on tennis shoes...and it might be about time for me to buy some cowboy boots. i havent worn those since i rode horses in second grade. they were red. i need boots. my feet are too cold up here, and people judge my ballet flats.

speaking of flats. tortilla flats is the best mexican food in nyc. and it is a crazy fun place.

kay bye.

525,600

im a little (slash extremely) obsessed with rent and i was at my internship today in the middle of a session with two fourth grade boys...and a teacher walked by and asked one of them a question and his answer was (in a singing voice) "525,600 laaaAAAPSss". i loved it! the music teacher at the school teaches the song 'seasons of love' and i hear them singing it almost every day. have i mentioned i love it? its a little crazy that they are letting elementary age students sing a song from rent though.

rent is closing, the last show is on june 1st. sad. atleast i have seen it three times AND saw it with the original mark and roger (i sound just like trent)...but i want to see it again, maybe more than once. i would love to be at the last show.

moving on. today when i was riding the train home, a guy walked in the car and started talking loudly, which usually means hes about to ask for money/food. he announced that hes a single father and walked through the train with his three kids and sat down. one, maybe two of them were teenagers and the other was young, prob like 8 or 9? they started singing a song, the dad was playing a guitar, one kid had a tamborine, one kid had a drum...the little one just sang. well, they all sang. anyway, it was actually a good song, but their singing was really bad. i was not sure how i felt about it. i was mad at the dad for forcing his kids to go beg/sing for money on the train with him. it was like 4:30ish, so they were just out of school for about and hour, prob exhausted already. but then i thought that atleast the kids were not at home alone after school when their only parent was at work. and they didnt seem to be having that bad of a time with their "singing". if you can even call it that. i would have been more bothered if their singing was good. i would have felt like i needed to give them something. its hard to de-sensitize yourself, but lovely ny will do that to you.

also, there is nothing like a man stopping right infront of you, blowing a snot rocket, and then continuing on his way as if nothing happened...in the middle of penn station.

eli young band

City lights
yellow cabs
Yankee hats
Suits and ties everywhere
These City folks
they look at me in my shirt and jeans
they make me think I don't fit in here.
Well the things they say might be right
they might be so but one thing I know
I can't change who I am
